Snow and rain in Scotland LIVE tracker shows weather in your area

Snow and rain is falling across Scotland today - and you can monitor exactly when it is due to hit your area with an interactive weather tracker.

Strong showers and sleet is expected to batter large parts of the country on Friday after the Met Office extended its yellow weather warning, which is in place until midday.

Forecasters said snowy conditions could bring “significant” disruption to travel and power cuts in rural areas - with central Scotland, the northeast and the Highlands the worst to be hit.

The snow tracker below shows weather over Scotland in real-time, with pink patches for snow and blue for rain.

Meanwhile, flood warning are still in place for Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen city and Dundee and Angus, according to The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

It comes after the lowest minimum temperature recorded across the UK by 11pm on Thursday was minus 6.8C at Braemar in Aberdeenshire following a chilly night.

The Met Office has confirmed the UK has experienced its snowiest spell since January 2019, with 20 weather stations up and down the country recording accumulations of two inches of snow for three days consecutively.

A statement from the Met Office warns: “A band of snowfall will push northeast into this region during Thursday and become slow-moving before clearing during Friday morning.

"Snow may fall to lower elevations for a time with some locations seeing several cm by Friday morning.

"Above 200 m elevation significant and prolonged snowfall is possible throughout Thursday and Thursday night before easing during Friday morning.

"There is potential for 15-20 cm to accumulate which may lead to transport disruption, with 30 cm possible on hills above 300-400m in a few areas.”

It comes after a fresh avalanche warning was issued in the Pentland Hills after bad weather caused massive snow drifts last week.

The Pentland Hills Regional Park took to social media to warn of a risk of avalanches in the area after another had been reported on the Caerketton hill.

Last Thursday, Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team said people could be 'buried' by the massive snow drifts.
