Snow looks set for South Lanarkshire after forecasters issued a warning today.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning that’s in place from 9pm this evening until 11am tomorrow.
Weather experts say that the snow and ice could lead to travel delays on roads in Rutherglen and in South Lanarkshire, stranding some vehicles and passengers.
The Met Office have said that power cuts may occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected.
The public has also been warned that there is a chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.
Bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times possible
A weather expert from the Met Office said: “An area of sleet and snow is likely to move eastwards overnight, followed by a few wintry showers.
“Surfaces then freezing, leading to icy stretches. There is a small chance that up to 5 cm of snow could fall down to sea level.
“Snow over high ground is much more likely, with 5-10 cm above 250 m and as much as 15 cm above 350m.”
