In the country: Worcestershire. This perches among the tree tops above the river Severn in Hawford Wood, Ombersley, with green vistas and the snug wooden chic of a Swiss chalet. It’s a shame the three bedrooms are small, and the busy A449 passes within earshot below. Yours for £279,500.

Wreck of the week: Cornwall. This £295,000 1930s bungalow is a few decades out of date. About £30,000 would install central heating, new wiring, and kitchen and bathroom fittings. It has two bedrooms and is near the centre of Truro on a big plot with a garage, which alas is near one of the main routes into town.
