Snooping around – in pictures

Snooping around: Snooping_country
In the country: Cumbria. This £350,000 three-bedroomed portion of a Regency house in Warcop, near Appleby-in-Westmorland, has large rooms and valley views and was built for the high sheriff. You would have to contend with a neighbour attached to each side and the kitchen is too narrow to be the family hub.

In town: Canterbury. Situated close to the cathedral, this three-reception, three-bedroom terrace is richly beamed and panelled, with stained-glass windows and quaint outbuildings behind. At £500,000 it’s a shame it needs updating, and that the garden is a courtyard.

Snooping around: Snooping_wreck
Wreck of the week: Devon. You’ll want to renew all fixtures and fittings, and probably the thatch of this two-bedroom terrace cottage. Situated in the village of Strete in the South Hams, the front rooms look over fields to Start Bay, the two receptions and kitchen are a decent size and both bedrooms are doubles. Beware that at £325,000, plus the improvements, the bill will be quite high for a small cottage.

Snooping: Dream home in Buckinghamshire
Dream home (1): Buckinghamshire. If coverage of the Chelsea flower show has you yearning for a gardening, the Manor in Sherington could fulfill your fantasies. The 1.8 hectares (4.4 acres) of land, which are dominated by an historic moat, feature an ancient mulberry tree in the orchard, as well as pears, plums, cherries and medlars, alongside newer planting. A gardener’s cottage on an island serves as an outdoor kitchen in the summer, and is handy for the croquet lawn. Indoors, things are as grand as you might expect, given its £1.8m price tag, with eight bedrooms, a dining hall, drawing room, study and music room, to spread out over.

Snooping: Dream home: London
Dream home (2): north-west London. Should the idea of actually tending a garden sound less of a dream than a chore, this Barratt Homes development at Bentley Priory in Stanmore may be a bit more appealing. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom homes on Clarence Park Crescent each have their own outdoor space, so those greenfingers can get a bit of a stretch, but the main draw is the grounds around them. The 4.8 hectare (12 acres) of parkland include restored Italian gardens, woodland and meandering paths. Prices start at just under £1.7m.
