Wreck of the week: Cornwall. St Austell has nearby beaches and Cornish glories in all directions. For £350,000 you’ll get a detached five-bed house which is tidy but dated – £50,000 would rejuvenate it. It will accommodate an expansive family and fleet of cars, but you may have to sacrifice a bedroom to create a second bathroom.
