If you are looking for a “project” this is not the property for you. There is absolutely nothing left to do to this stunning seven-bedroom country home just outside the medieval town of Loro Piceno. The original farm building has been gutted and converted to provide sleek and tasteful accommodation, and the ground floor is organised as a separate apartment which could be rented out. The property is within easy reach of the Adriatic sea and the Appenines for skiing.

This three-bedroom, three-reception room boarded house is set on the edge of a marina village with a third of an acre of its own. The property has tonnes of character, with beams, fireplaces in many of the rooms and its own immaculate knot garden. But if you are going to be picky, it’s a shame that you have to commute through the dining room and kitchen to reach the stairs up to the bedrooms.

Ireland’s National Stud is very close to this cut-stone three-bedroom cottage, which has the added benefit of a guest cottage, an American barn with eight boxes and tack room, an all-weather arena and a four-bay horse walker and 1.8 acres of grazing. Outside there are a further three stables leading to an enclosed yard. The cottage is pretty nice too, with plenty of period features and a master bedroom with its own sunroom on the side.

This is a handsome Georgian house in a handsome market town, set on the corner of a private no-through-road and overlooking a park. What more could you ask for? It has three elegant reception rooms, four bedrooms and cellars. Outside there is ample off-road parking and a decent back garden. It does, however, front directly on to a main road.

For £420,000 you get a three-storey Victorian house in a fed-up condition, but £40,000 would cure the decor and patch up the leakages. It’s 30-minute walk into the West End and 10 minutes to Elephant & Castle zone 1 tube. But beware – Walworth has not yet upped and come.
