In town: West Sussex. This is one of a row of old coastguard cottages in Selsey, near Chichester, 400ft from the beach with views of sea and downs. Yours for £250,000, it has three bedrooms and a 120ft garden. It’s just a shame the bathroom is beyond the kitchen.

Wreck of the week: Kent. This six-bed mansion in Sandwich is too dangerous to enter, and too overgrown to see from the back. Serious money and vision are required, beyond the £395,000 price tag. However, that buys you 5,000 sq ft in 0.34 acres in the heart of this pretty Cinque Ports town. Given its ruinous state it is being “sold as seen” to cash buyers only.

Dream home: London. With flurries of snow still hitting the UK, you may be fantasising about living in a ski lodge. No need to up sticks to the continent, thanks to this pad in Brondesbury Park in north-west London, which bears a passing resemblance to a chalet - inside at least.
