In the country: Northumberland. Set in Whalton, near Morpeth, this two-bedder is stylishly groomed with quaint fireplaces, a designer kitchen, communal lawns and drive to the front, and a secluded garden behind. Yours for £225,000, it’s a shame the kitchen and both bedrooms are a little on the narrow side.

Wreck of the week: London. Just £50 shy of £400,000 for a three-bed 1930s semi in N14? That’s because it needs a total revamp, from windows to wiring. Expect to fork out anything from £50,000 up. It’s close to good schools and less than a mile from the tube, and there’s a rear garage and no chain. But the third bedroom is a little boxy.
