In town: Oxfordshire. Greys Road is in the heart of pretty Henley-on-Thames. This two-bedder, on the market for £375,000, has two bedrooms and a reception. Outside is a decked terrace but no garden. It’s a shame that parking is a frantic free-for-all.

In the country: Suffolk. Riddled with exposed beams and studwork, with a roll‑top bath and an Aga kitchen, this will set you back £420,000. Set in the village of Denham, it has 0.75 acres and a barn. It’s a shame the third bedroom lies off the kitchen, and the bathroom opens off the sitting room (and said third bedroom).

Wreck of the week: Scottish Highlands. This is a disused church in South Laggan, Invergarry, unconverted and with a lifetime’s supply of pews: £100,000 would make a big impact, in addition to the £90,000 price tag. Surrounded by glorious scenery, it’s also near a loch and ski slopes and has good transport links. Almost too good: the A82 Glasgow to Inverness road is a few dozen yards from the boundary.
