MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Monday said that the Union government and administration were weak and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah clarify the issue of alleged snooping of politicians and journalists by foreign spyware, Pegasus.
Raut also said that there must be some motive behind tapping phones of prominent people in the country.
Raut told the media in Delhi that snooping by a foreign spyware shows that the freedom of the country was in danger. He added that he had discussed the issue with Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge and said that he would raise the issue in Parliament during the ongoing monsoon session.
He said that a phone had also been tapped in Maharashtra while the government was being formed and the matter is being probed.
“But in this case, a foreign company is involved in tapping phone calls of our people, especially editors, journalists and also politicians which is a serious matter. They must have some motive behind it which would be a risk for the country’s freedom,” he said.
