'Snoop Shelby': Snoop Dogg covers Nick Cave's Peaky Blinders theme song

Peaky Blinders can count another celebrity among its superfans, as Snoop Dogg has recorded a cover of the show’s seminal theme tune, “Red Right Hand” by Nick Cave.

The rapper revealed the cover in a video posted to the show’s official Twitter account, sporting one of the trademark flat caps seen in the show and renaming himself “Snoop Shelby” after Cillian Murphy’s lead character.

Snoop Dogg’s cover of the classic track comes after Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight said the rapper wants a cameo in the hit gangster drama.

“We get a lot of people who get in touch and want to take part,” he told The Guardian.

“There’s Brad Pitt, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky, too. I think in series six we will open the door a little to get some celebrity actors in. The main thing is they have to be good.”

Peaky Blinders season five has just finished on BBC1, and the show is expected to return for its sixth series in 2021.

Last week, Snoop Dogg’s grandson died aged just 10 days old, with the baby’s father announcing the news on Instagram.
