The University of Kansas has issued an apology for an explicit Snoop Dogg performance that took place on its campus.
Snoop Dogg’s set featured “scantily dressed women gyrating on stripper poles and doing the splits”, according to a report in Deadline.
The show also included unedited versions of hit songs “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Gin and Juice.”
Kansas athletic director Jeff Long issued a statement to the Kansas City Star, saying the college had expected a “clean version” of the performance which would maintain the “family atmosphere”.
“We apologise to anyone who was offended by the Snoop Dogg performance at Late Night. We made it clear to the entertainers’ managers that we expected a clean version of the show," said the statement.
Long added: “I take full responsibility for not thoroughly vetting all the details of the performance and offer my personal apology to those who were offended. We strive to create a family atmosphere at Kansas and fell short of that this evening.”
Snoop Dogg has since brushed off the controversy, sharing a picture of him at the show on Instagram with the caption: “Thank. U for letting me be me. This is America.”
