Snoop Dogg says Eminem wouldn't be as widely respected without Dr Dre

Snoop Dogg has admitted that he doesn’t think Eminem is one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Appearing on the US radio show The Breakfast Club, the “Young, Wild & Free” musician recalled how Dr Dre had gone from performing with rap group NWA to discovering some of the biggest rap talent in the industry.

“Eminem, ‘The Great White Hope’, Snoop joked. “White rappers had zero respect in rap… [Dre] has probably put Eminem in the position where he would be labelled one of the top 10 rappers ever.

“I don’t think so, but the game feels like he’s [one of the] top 10 lyricists and all that that comes with it. That’s just because he’s with Dr Dre. And Dr Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find.”

Explaining why he didn’t rate Eminem as highly, Snoop said: “There’s some n****s in the Eighties that he can’t f*** with, like Rakim, like Big Daddy Kane, like KRS-One, like LL Cool J, like Ice Cube.”

However, Snoop said that he considered Eminem to be “one of my teammates, one of my brothers”, adding: “But when you’re talking about this hip-hop s*** that I can’t live without, I can live without that.”

Last month, Snoop filmed himself in the studio with Kanye West, leaving some fans to brand him a “hypocrite” having previously said that West was “brainwashed” for supporting Trump.
