Snoop Dogg recalls "smoking like a mother******" while commentating on UFC

Popular rapper Snoop Dogg has explained how the UFC had to move him to a different section whilst commentating after be began smoking like a "mother******".

The rapper joined the broadcast team in 2017 to provide commentary alongside UFC veteran Urijah Faber on Dana White's Contender Series.

His alternative commentary with Faber was part of a section called 'Snoopcast' in which viewers could listen to instead of the usual commentary.

'Snoopcast' offered viewers a less technical breakdown of the fights, as the rapper would often smoking marijuana and drink alcohol whilst commentating. the shows.

And the rapper revealed the UFC had to move him to a different section to avoid fighters inhaling second-hand smoke.

"You know what people don't know, when they see me all this calling sports and calling fights, when I'm an analyst," he said on the Joe Rogan Experience.

"They don't know that I got my start with a show called the Contender (Series), which was a Dana White show,"

"I was on there smoking like a mother****** the first couple of fights.

"They was like ‘hold on, the rules and regulations to fight, the smoke has got to be in this section over here’. So we had our little booth where I was announcing and we had to smoke all for the set and watch the fight from the booth."

Snoop was only part of the Contender Series for one season with fighters such as Al Iaquinta and Matt Brown labelling his commentary as disrespectful.

He has credited the UFC for kickstarting his newfound career as a sports analyst having also provided commentary for boxing and the NFL.

The 50-year-old was a commentator for Mike Tyson's exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr last year, a card on which Jake Paul also fought Ben Askren.

Snoop claimed he made a $2million bet with UFC president Dana White that Paul would knockout Askren, something that White later refuted.

And the rapper said the UFC "blessed" him with the commentary gig that shaped his style as a commentator.

"I think about how when I was on there with Urijah Faber, just getting my style together as far as how to talk when watching a sporting event," he continued.

"They don’t understand I got my beginnings from the UFC world, you all blessed me.

"Dana, he produced it. I was doing freelance s*** and he was like 'come to Vegas, we gonna put you on the air, you and him (Faber)'.

"That gave me the bug to be like ‘f*** that, you can do this s*** dog, go do it’."
