Snoop Dogg has merged his love of marijuana with modern-day technology to launch a new lifestyle media website called Merry Jane.

The rapper, 43, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Junior, announced the launch of the website at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, California. He is co-founder of the project, along with entrepreneur, Ted Chung.

According to TechCrunch cannabis will be “at the centre” of the site which will contain editorial and video content.

The content will range from a cooking show, to business and political discussions as well as celebrity interviews which, according to Snoop Dogg, could include Seth Rogen and Miley Cyrus.

The website will also be used as an advisory service, providing people with information on different strains of marijuana as well as connecting them with local dispensaries in the U.S.

Snoop Dogg explained that his aim for the site is to get people "out of the closet": “There are so many people in the closet, and we are giving them an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke. I’m a smoker, my name is Snoop Dogg, and I’m a stoner.”

The website is expected to launch over the next month; at present a small number of beta testers can visit the website.

In 2012, Snoop Dogg said in a Reddit Q&A that he smokes up 81 cannabis blunts a day.
