Snoop Dogg donates $10k to help 93-year-old woman protect her land from developers

Snoop Dogg has donated $10,000 to a GoFundMe campaign to help a 93-year-old woman’s legal battle against land developers.

A representative for the 51-year-old rapper confirmed to CNN that he was behind the charitable contribution to Josephine Wright’s legal fund last Thursday.

The Drop It Like It’s Hot hit-maker also expressed to the media outlet that he had made his donation “from the heart”, adding that Wright “reminds me of my mother and grandmother”.

Mrs Wright was previously sued by Georgia-based Bailey Point Investment, LLC, a development group that claimed several structures on her land were encroaching on their property.

According to The Post and Courier, the investment group is planning to construct 147 new homes on Hilton Head Island, where Wright resides.

CNN reported that her granddaughter, Tracey Love Graves, stated that Bailey Point had previously offered Wright $30,000 for her land.

The group subsequently filed a lawsuit against Wright in February, claiming her satellite dish, shed, and screened-in porch were all impeding their work.

Wright has since filed a countersuit against the development group, whom she accused of employing a “constant barrage of tactics of intimidation, harassment, trespass, to include this litigation in an effort to force her to sell her property”.

The great-grandmother’s GoFundMe account, which was started by her granddaughter Charise, has also raised $277,178 for her legal fund.

Wright and her late husband, who passed away in 1998, previously moved from New York City to Hilton Head Island almost three decades ago in order to live on his family’s land, which has been in their possession ever since the Civil War.

Snoop Dogg is not the only high profile figure to get behind Wright.

NBA basketball player Kyrie Irving currently holds the top donation of $40,000 on her GoFundMe account, while actor Tyler Perry also made an Instagram account about her struggles.
