SNL: When does Saturday Night Live return?

Saturday Night Live is taking its annual holiday hiatus before returning next month.

Following a two-week break, the late-night comedy sketch show will return on 3 December with first-time host Keke Palmer.

The 29-year-old actor recently starred in Jordan Peele’s latest sci-fi thriller Nope.

Palmer will be joined by SZA as the evening’s musical guest, whose appearance will be in support of her recently announced forthcoming album, SOS.

The record marks the singer-songwriter’s second solo album since she debuted her first one, Ctrl, five years ago in 2017.

Palmer is taking over emcee duties from comedian Dave Chappelle, who made his third appearance to front the show during its latest episode on 12 November.

His opening monologue has since ignited backlash after he spent 15 minutes rambling about Kanye West and the rapper’s recent antisemitism remarks while toeing the line of antisemitism himself.

Hacks star Hannah Einbinder is the latest to voice her criticism of Chappelle’s controversial monologue.

SNL is currently in its 48th season and, so far, has welcomed Miles Teller, Brendan Gleeson, Jack Harlow, Megan Thee Stallion and Amy Schumer as hosts.

This season’s musical guests have included Kendrick Lamar, Willow Smith, Steve Lacy, Harlow, Black Star and Megan Thee Stallion.

Its newest season follows a major cast shakeup, with the exit of Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson, and Kate McKinnon at the end of its season 47 finale and the departure of Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor, Chris Redd and Aristotle Athari in September.

Emmys host Kenan Thompson returned alongside stars Heidi Gardner, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, James Austin, Punkie Johnson, Bowen Yang, Michael Che, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, and Cecily Strong.

Saturday Night Live will return on Saturday 3 December on NBC at 11:30pm and is available to stream on Peacock.
