'SNL' episode with Chance the Rapper posts ratings low

Dec. 14--It looks like America didn't want to take a chance on actor Chris Hemsworth and Chicago native Chance the Rapper.

Saturday's telecast of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Hemsworth and featuring Chance the Rapper as the musical guest, posted a ratings low for the season, according to Deadline.

The episode averaged a 3.8 household rating in the metered markets and a rating of 1.8 for adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters, according to NBC. To compare, last month's episode with Matthew McConaughey as host and Adele as musical guest averaged a 4.6 household rating and a 2.3 rating for adults 18-49.

In Saturday's episode, Hemsworth wore women's clothes as he poked fun at his own fame and portrayed a police officer who won't stop doing his job even as he's bleeding to death.

In his "SNL" debut, Chance the Rapper premiered new song "Somewhere in Paradise" and referenced the case of Laquan McDonald, a black teenager who was shot to death last year by a white Chicago police officer, as he sang "Sunday Candy."

Will Ferrell also had a cameo as former President George W. Bush in the episode.

"Sisters" co-stars and Second City alumni Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host Saturday's episode with musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. The show airs on NBC at 10:30 p.m.
