Snipers pictured on roof of Dublin building where Prince William and Kate Middleton set to visit

Snipers are staged on the roof of a Dublin building where Prince William and Kate Middleton are due to visit.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in Ireland this week on an official visit which will see the pair take trips to parts of Dublin, Galway, Meath and Kildare.

The Royals attended a youth mental health centre, Jigsaw, situated in Dublin city on Wednesday.

And sniper teams were pictured on top of the building surveilling the surrounding areas of Temple Bar.

William and Kate arrived in the country on Tuesday at Dublin Airport, before visiting President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina at Aras an Uachtarain.

A major security operation is underway for their visit.

Specialist gardai including armed support units have been deployed to patrol and secure areas on the royal couple's itinerary.

The biggest security threat comes from dissident republicans.

A full itinerary for the visit has been released by the gardai with some road closures in place over the next few days.

On Wednesday, they will also visit Prosperous, Co Kildare, Grange, Co Meath and Howth, Co Dublin.

The Royal visit will have limited impact in Co Kildare. 

There will be temporary restrictions in place in Prosperous village from 11.30am – 12.15pm. Local Gardai will have diversion routes in place.

The Royal visit will have limited impact in Co Meath. From 8am to 5pm Thormanby Road, Howth will have restricted access.

From 3pm to 5pm Carrickbrack Road, Howth will have restricted access. Local access will be maintained and local diversion routes will be in place.

On their final day, Thursday, Kate and William will visit a local GAA club as well as Galway city centre.
