Sniffer dogs track down missing Dublin couple Bernard and Carol Devine in Wexford

Sniffer dogs tracked down a missing couple near a golf club yesterday.

Bernard and Carol Devine, both 53, vanished last Tuesday from their home in Portmarnock, North Dublin.

A huge hunt by emergency services led to the pair being discovered safe and well at St Helen’s Bay golf course in Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford.

The couple’s BMW had been found abandoned near Our Lady’s Island, Co Wexford, two days previously.

The Search and Rescue Dogs Association, Garda Dog Unit, Coast Guard Helicopter R117, Civil Defence and Coast Guard units from Rosslare, Carnsore and Kilmore, were drafted in to help.

It has now emerged this is the second time the Devines have vanished in the past three months.

They were reported missing on September 18 and their car was found with the keys in the ignition at Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone.

But two days later they were found safe and well.

The couple have been embroiled in a battle with a bank, solicitors and the Land Registry over alleged complications that arose when they attempted to sell their home last year.

They have been actively seeking media attention for their campaign against various agencies.

In a lengthy email sent to the Irish Mirror in June, Bernard wrote that the couple paid for their home in full but the bank claims it has no record of the sale.

A Garda spokesman said: “Bernard and Carol have been located safe and well.

“We would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this matter. No further action is required.”
