Sniffer dog Bailey finds illegal drugs of over €108,000 hidden in parcels in Dublin

Clever detector dog Bailey sniffed out a huge haul of drugs worth over €108,000 in Dublin yesterday.

The pooch assisted Revenue officials as they discovered over 5.3kgs of herbal cannabis, almost 270grams of cannabis oil and butane honey oil and 450grams of cannabis edibles hidden in 21 separate parcels at the Dublin Mail Centre.

The packages originated in the USA, the United Kingdom and Spain. These parcels were declared as items such as ‘pillows’, ‘sports shoes’, ‘custom stationery’ and ‘wine tubs’.

They were destined for delivery in Dublin, Laois, Galway, Kerry and Sligo.

A Revenue spokeswoman said: "Investigations are ongoing.

"These seizures are part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.

"If businesses or members of the public have any information regarding smuggling, they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295."
