Snickers fans rejoice as much-loved chocolate bar keeps X-rated feature

Snickers has brought an end to rumours suggesting that its chocolate bars will be ditching their iconic x-rated feature.

In April, an image of an unusually smooth Snickers bar did the rounds on social media along with the claim that Mars, Inc. had “deveined” the famous chocolate bars following complaints that it shared too close of a resemblance to a penis.

The rumoured change to the chocolate bar traces back to January 2022 when Mars announced it was redesigning the green M&M character.

The reason? To better reflect a “more dynamic, progressive world” and to show off the character’s “personality, rather than their gender.”

CBS News reported at the time: "The most notable changes include the green M&M’s redesign, which will exchange the white heeled go-go boots she was given in 1997 for 'cool, laid-back sneakers to reflect her effortless confidence.'

"Mars had received criticism for the green M&M’s sexy characterisation. The green M&M will also be 'better represented to reflect confidence and empowerment, as a strong female, and known for much more than her boots.'"

This change led other people to make jokes on social media about other confectionaries that needed to be desexualised, such as the Snickers bar and its "d**k vein".

On January 25, the website Mandatory published a tongue-in-cheek article about the vein being removed from a Snickers bar.

Following this, in April a piece of imposter content was published on iFunny.com.

Finally, Snickers stepped in and squashed all rumours on Tuesday by confirming to fans that "Good news, contrary to what's trending on Twitter... THE VEINS REMAIN!" in a tweet that has been liked more than 45,000 times.

Twix replied: "Phew…close call" as others celebrated the chocolate bar staying just as it is.

One social media user said: "You are the best candy!" as others said "greatest chocolate bar".

More innocent social media users tweeted their surprise, saying they hadn't noticed the feature before.
