Sneaky way shoppers can avoid queuing at Sainsbury's during coronavirus lockdown

By now everyone will be aware of that due to social distancing measures in place across supermarkets, once a customer limit has been reached you need to queue outside.

The measures ensure that once inside you are able to keep a two metre distance between other customers.

While essential to help stop the spread of coronavirus, these measure do mean queues for checkouts have been a bit longer during the coronavirus pandemic at times.

However, there is a way Sainsbury's customers can skip the queues altogether thanks to the supermarkets SmartShop app.

SmartShop is a new in-store shopping app that lets you scan items as you go, This means you'll be able to skip the checkout queues.

Initially SmartShop was trialled in selected stores but is now available in all Sainsbury's stores. You can find a full list of questions and answers on the retailer's website here.

To use the app you can download it from the AppleStore or Google Play or you can use an in store handset.

Once you’ve selected your method, all you need to do is shop, scan and bag your products, then skip the queues and pay instantly by heading towards the SmartShop checkouts when you’re done.
