Snapchat users can submit their videos to be in with chance of earning a share of £750k

With over 249 million active users, Snapchat is without a doubt one of the most popular social media apps around the world.

Now, Snapchat has launched a new feature called Spotlight - an entertainment platform for user-generated content.

Snapchat explained: “Spotlight will surface the most entertaining Snaps from the Snapchat community all in one place, and will become tailored to each Snapchatter over time based on their preferences and favourites.”

The app hopes that Spotlight will help to showcase some of the four billions Snaps created every day.

To celebrate the launch, Snapchat is allowing users to submit their videos to Spotlight, to be in with a chance of earning a share of $1 million (£747,000) every day.

Snapchat explained: “As a way to celebrate and reward the creativity of the Snapchat community, Snap will distribute over $1 million USD every day to Snapchatters who create the top Snaps on Spotlight, at least through the end of the year.”

Spotlight is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, with more countries coming soon.

How to use Spotlight

1. Open the Snapchat app on your smartphone

2. Take a Snap

3. Tap the arrow as if to send your snap

4. Tap ‘Spotlight’ and your Snap will be submitted

5. If you’re successful, Snapchat will send a Chat message to you directly via Team Snapchat
