Snapchat unveils fun filters to add or remove facial hair - here's how to use them

Snapchat has launched two fun filters to mark Father's Day.

The social media platform has unveiled the new tech to mark the occasion on Sunday, June 21.

The first filter gives clean-shaven users the opportunity to see what they’d look like with a beard, while the second removes the facial hair from bearded users, MirrorOnline reports.

Snapchat explained: “Snapchat is rolling out two new AR Lenses that will allow anyone to try on new, virtual facial hair looks - so you can begin to imagine your face with a nice clean shave, or full-on beard, having not been able to go to the barbers.”

Several users have already been enjoying trying them out after the launch on Wednesday.

One user posted on Twitter: “The remove beard filter on Snapchat is actually insane yea imma never clean shave.”

And another posted: “The only beard I've ever got is from the snapchat filter.”

Here’s how you can test out the Father’s Day filters.

Try out Snapchat’s new facial hair filters

1. Open the Snapchat app
2. Tap the photo button at the bottom of the screen to take a photo
3. Turn your front facing camera on by using the toggle in the top right corner
4. The new beard filters should appear in the carousel at the bottom of the screen
5. Tap the filter showing a bearded face to add a beard
6. Alternatively, tap the filter showing a face with half a beard to remove your facial hair
7. Take your photo and share with your friends!
