Snap Counts: Bengals throw out unexpected looks in loss to Bills

The Cincinnati Bengals didn’t have much working right offensively outside of a few drives during the team’s Week 3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

A severe lack of offensive production left the Bengals on the field for entirely too long and created some interesting shifts in personnel that show up in the snap counts.

Offense

— Billy Price got all the snaps at left guard in place of the injured Michael Jordan.

— Auden Tate played 89 percent of the snaps, moving to Damion Willis’ position. John Ross changed spots as well and while it didn’t hurt his snap counts, it hurt his tallies on the stat sheet.

— Joe Mixon was notably out late in favor of Giovani Bernard’s pass-blocking acumen.

— Tyler Eifert is still hovering on a pitch count and didn’t see much involvement in the passing game.

— Second-round pick Drew Sample continues to be a non-factor.

Defense

— Despite injury setbacks, Shawn Williams was still in on 91 percent of the snaps.

— Nick Vigil only got 86 percent, surprisingly taking a seat for new arrival LaRoy Reynolds.

— Darius Phillips split some time with Tony McRae with B.W. Webb out with an injury.

— Andrew Brown and Renell Wren each got 20-plus snaps while the Bengals defense was constantly on the field.

–Despite the speed problems, third-round linebacker Germaine Pratt only got on the field for 10 snaps.
