Snaking queues form as Irvine KFC drive-thru does roaring lunchtime trade

There were the lunchtime scenes in Irvine today as KFC fans road-tested a new drive-thru service.

Queues of more than 60 cars snaked round the Riverway Retail park as fast food fans waited patiently to be served.

Stretching past Taco Bell, Tony Macaroni and round the corner, a steady stream of vehicles could be seen getting in line to try out the new takeaway service.

The drive thru opened this week as KFC became one of the first fast food chains to re-open during the coronavirus pandemic.

The restaurant remains closed to the public but orders can be made for collection from the drive-thru.
