Snake spotted slithering on the loose near houses in Musselburgh

A snake has been spotted on the loose in East Lothian, with a video showing it slithering near houses.

It was seen on Tuesday night at the end of Delta Road, Musselburgh.

The animal is thought to be a milk snake, which is not dangerous to humans, sparking concerns for its welfare. There's speculation it could be an escaped pet.

Lorraine Rae posted a video of the snake on Facebook.

Wayne Dowd responded: "Where about I’ve a spare tank and heat mat it could go in till sspca can get it the cold will kill it."

Michele Mckinney said: "Try get a box over it so it doesn't go further or get hurt then call sspca if you can x."

The Scottish SPCA say they haven't been involved in the search for the snake. If you spot an animal in distress, you can call their helpline on 03000 999 999.
