Snake Pass closed in both direction as air ambulance called to 'serious crash' involving biker

A section of the Snake Pass near Glossop has been closed both ways after a 'serious crash' involving a biker.

A man has been taken to hospital in an air ambulance following the smash on the A57, police said.

Paramedics and police officers were called just before 11.40pm today (Friday).

The extent of the man's injuries have not yet been confirmed.

The road is fully closed both ways.

In a tweet, Highways England North West said: "The #A57 at #Glossop is currently CLOSED in both directions due to a serious collision.

"Police are currently at the scene. @DerbysPolice."

In a statement, a Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called just before 11.40am today (Friday 23 April) to reports of a collision on the A57 Snake Pass.

"The incident involved a motorcyclist, and police and ambulance crews attended.

"A man was taken to hospital in Manchester by air ambulance.

"Officers would like to hear from anyone who may witnessed the incident."
