And now we finally have a quarterback to run the attack.
SMU’s passing game needs to get going and be more consistent, and that’s where former Texas Longhorn Shane Buechele comes in. The running game will be along for the ride, but the receivers are outstanding and the points are going be flying on the board.

The Red Wolves are trying to replace star QB Justice Hansen for an attack in what should be a shootout. SMU has a big advantage at the most important position, but …
Why Arkansas State Will Win
The ASU offense will be more than fine.
The Red Wolves have a fantastic receiving corps, too, and the offensive line should be strong enough to control the game for large chunks.
The biggest key will be a secondary that was among the Sun Belt’s best getting everyone of note back. Even with some lost parts, the ASU pass rush will be good enough to give Buechele problems – the D will hold serve when it has too.
What’s Going To Happen
Arkansas State will be playing with a heavy heart after the tragic loss of head coach Blake Anderson’s wife to her fight with breast cancer.
The Red Wolves have the talent and experience on both sides of the ball to rise up and slow down the SMU offense for a team that won’t be good enough on third downs on either side of the ball.
The ASU O will be fine, and the D line will bother Buechele enough to slow things down late in what should be a blast of a shootout.
