SMS -- Atlantic crossing

"AT&T Wireless said Tuesday that its 22 million customers in the United States can now send and receive short text messages to more than 263 million mobile phone users in Europe," reports Reuters.

"AT&T Wireless signed deals with 71 European operators in 25 European countries, reaching more than 263 million European handset users, including most in Britain and Italy. Operators in Britain include Vodafone, France Telecom's Orange, MMO2's O2, Hutchison Whampoa's 3 and T-Mobile, which is owned by Deutsche Telekom."
