Smoke sent billowing after truck catches fire

Smoke was sent billowing over Ramsbottom after a truck went up in flames. The drama unfolded at premises on Railway Street near Nuttall Park at around 4pm this evening.

Locals reported seeing large plumes of smoke billowing over the area which were visible from some distance away.

It is understood a forklift truck caught fire which then spread to some pallets at a factory. Two fire engines raced to the scene and firefighters donned breathing apparatus as they quickly tackled the flames. Crews were on the scene for around two hours.
