Smoke seen from two streets away as crews tackle Speedwell fire

Firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at a garage in Bristol in the early hours of this morning.

Two fire crews from Kingswood and one from Temple station were called reports of a double garage alight at a property in Speedwell around 4.55am today (Sunday, September 15).

The crews used two hose reels and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire and had left the scene by 7am.

Witnesses reported seeing smoke from at least two streets away.

According to a spokesperson from Avon Fire & Rescue Service, a man believed to be the owner of the property, was given ‘oxygen therapy’ at the scene.

No-one else was injured as a result of the incident.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.
