Smoke seen across Swansea as firefighters tackle grass fire on Kilvey Hill

Firefighters have been tackling a grass fire in Swansea measuring around 10-hectares.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to a fire in the St Thomas side of Kilvey Hill at 6.27pm.

The smoke from the fire can be seen across the city.

The fire service sent four crews from Swansea Central, Morriston and Swansea West to the scene.

Penlan resident Clare Slade said: "I thought it might have been buildings or a car on fire.

"I was really worried, especially for the people living close by, the wildlife and the animals."

Manselton resident Bryn Morgan was also worried about the wildlife.

He said: "This happens every year. You could smell the grass in the air.

"You can not stop people setting fire to the grass, it is terrible."
