Smoke pours from Scots flats in Kinross as fire crews race to blaze

Fire crews are in attendance at a large fire inside a flat in Kinross.

Four fire engines were called to the scene on Kinross High Street before 10:30am this morning.

An area has been sealed off on the busy street as crews tackle the flames in the three-story building.

It is understood the top floor of the property is residential flats.

Footage of the fire shows smoke pouring from the roof of the building.

It's understood fire crews remain at the scene but no one has been injured.

Locals flooded in with comments as they shared their concerns for the residents in the flats.

Another added: "Always loved that building. Hopeful for everyone's safety."

"Fingers crossed for minimal damage and nobody is hurt", said one.

One assured everyone that the home's occupants were safe.

He said: "Everyone’s safe, this is my friend's house and a bird's nest caught fire in the chimney causing the fire."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Four fire appliances were dispatched to Kinross High Street at 10:12am this morning, Thursday, August 5.

"Crews remain in attendance and there have been no reported casualties at this time."
