Smoke billows from ‘huge’ fire at restaurant in Harrow

Firefighters have tackled a blaze at an Indian restaurant in Harrow where the roof and first floor has been destroyed.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to the fire at 6.19am on Wednesday at Spice Klub on Peel Rd.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was under control by 8.38am.

The whole of the roof and the first floor was destroyed by the blaze.

Part of the ground floor was also damaged by fire.

Nineteen people left the building, uninjured, before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters used apparatus which means they could spray water on the fire from above, they added.

Fire crews from Harrow, Stanmore, Northolt, Wembley and other fire stations in the surrounding area were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One local resident uploaded a video of black plumes of smoke billowing from a rooftop in the distance.

They wrote that “huge flames” could be seen two hours after the fire started.
