Hazardous dust particles will continue to cover greater Bangkok on Tuesday and Wednesday as the air force sent planes to spray water onto parts of the capital to alleviate pollution.
The Pollution Control Department reported on Tuesday that cool weather continued to retain smoke and dust particles in the atmosphere of Bangkok and nearby provinces and the condition would continue at least until Wednesday.
In the capital, hazardous levels of fine particulate matters were detected in Kanchanaphisek Road in Bang Khunthian district, Din Daeng sub-district and Din Daeng Road in Din Daeng district, Rama IV Road in Pathumwan district, Intarapitak Road in Thon Buri district, and Lat Phrao Road and Phlab Phla sub-district in Wang Thong Lang district.
In Nonthaburi province, the unhealthy condition was in tambon Bang Kruai of Bang Kruai district.
In Pathum Thani, tambon Khlong Nueng of Khlong Luang district was affected.
In Samut Prakan province, tambon Song Khanong of Phra Pradaeng district and tambon Bang Sao Thong in Bang Sao Thong district were most affected.
In Samut Sakhon province, hazardous dust levels were on frontage roads along Rama II Road in Muang district and in tambon Om Noi of Krathumbaen district.
Natural rain did not help much as weathermen expected it to cover only 10% of Bangkok.
Apart from the normal measures of cleaning roads and controlling dust from construction sites, the air force deployed two BT-67 aircraft from Phitsanulok province to spray water in Don Muang and Chatuchak districts of Bangkok on three flights on Tuesday.
