
Toxic dust levels have fallen generally but remained high in Bangkok's Wang Thonglang district and one area in each of Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon provinces on Monday morning.
Chayapol Thitisak, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said the levels of particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometres or less ranged from 52 to 69 microgrammes per cubic metre of air in the past 24 hours in Bangkok and adjacent provinces. The safe threshold is 50mcg.
Unsafe levels were reported in Phlab Phla sub-district of Wang Thonglang district in Bangkok, tambon Nakhon Pathom of Muang district in Nakhon Pathom province, tambon Song Khanong of Phra Pradaeng sub-district in Samut Prakan, and on Rama II Road in Muang district of Samut Sakhon.
Meanwhile, rainmaking, road cleaning, water spraying and strict prohibition of field burning was continuing as part of efforts to contain the smog problem, Mr Chayapol said.
