Smithy family arson: Police release image of Fiat Punto used in attack

Police have released an image of a Fiat car with a dent in connection with an arson attack on the TikTok famous Smithy Family.

The Smithys were forced to flee their Welling home after two hooded people appeared to be caught on CCTV firebombing their car while it was parked in the drive.

London Fire Brigade said the exterior and guttering of the house were destroyed in the incident as well as five mobility scooters.

The blaze spread to a neighbour’s house damaging a first-floor window fascia and drains. No one was injured.

Nick Smith, who gave up his day job as a builder to become an influencer, was forced to grab his two young daughters Amelia, 6, and Isabella, 9 and a newborn baby boy when he realised his car was on fire at around 10pm on July 14.

The father broke down in tears in a video filmed outside the charred semi-detached house.

He took aim at two people he claims started the blaze: “To the two people who done this. You could’ve killed our family. And not only our family but our neighbours, my friends. It’s unforgivable.”

The Fiat Punto - believed to be a Grande model - is light blue with a noticeable dent in the front right wheel arch.

The car is believed to be in the south east London area including Welling, Bexleyheath, Dartford or Greenwich.

Police wish to identify the car and its owner as it is believed to have been used in connection with this incident.

Det Sgt Danny Banks, from the Serious and Complex Investigations Unit, said: “A team of officers have been working diligently to establish the circumstances of this incident. I thank everyone who has already come forward to police.

“We are now focusing our investigation on the car pictured and wish to identify it as soon as possible.

“If you recognise it, please come forwards and speak to us. No piece of information is too small and could significantly help us in our investigation to establish who is responsible for this attack.”
