Smithdown Road festival returning this month with live music and family fun

Smithdown Road Festival is set to return at the end of September.

The annual festival usually takes place in May but organisers confirmed earlier this year it would be taking place in September this year.

After the 2020 edition was inevitably cancelled, the festival is preparing to return this month with an impressive line-up.

The first wave of acts were confirmed recently, alongside the various Smithdown venues hosting this year's celebrations.

This year's line-up is so far packed with local talent, including Ali Horn, Gen and The Degenerates, Hushtones, and Piss Kitti.

Also confirmed to be performing is The Heavy North, The Peach Fuzz, Mai 68 Records, and Beija Flo.

Smithdown Road Festival takes place across various venues in the area, with 15 confirmed so far for this year's festival. .

Venues hosting the 2021 festival include Handyman, Defend Vinyl, Chamber 36, and Black Cat.

Local cafes Nomad, The Barn Café, and Bean There have also joined the line-up, alongside St Barnabas Church and the Brookhouse.

Sefton Park Cricket Ground is also one of the participating venues, and will be hosting a free 'family fun' area outside, offering live music, food stalls, and activities for children.

As usual, Smithdown Road Festival will be raising money for The Whitechapel Centre, who work to help homeless people across Merseyside.

Smithdown Road Festival will take place from Friday, September 24, until Sunday, September 26. All venues will be free to enter.
