Smiling Morrissey enjoys leisurely shopping trip to Manchester

Morrissey was spotted enjoying a nice leisurely shopping trip in Manchester city centre on Monday.

The Smiths frontman even flashed a rare smile as he walked out and about.

Rocking an updated Eric Morecambe-inspired look with a blue checked shirt and a smart grey plaid overcoat, teamed with jeans, black shoes and rounded off with aviator shades, the singer looked like he didn’t have a care in the world as he popped into Harvey Nichols.

It was likely a calm before the storm moment for Mozza, who begins a tour on Friday ahead of the release of his solo album, I Am Not A Dog On A Chain, on March 20.

He’s kicking off the tour in Leeds for his first date, which is the closest location to Manchester, before heading to Cologne, Paris and back to London.

Accompanied by his nephew assistant, Morrissey walked into the luxury department store, based on New Cathedral Street in the city centre, at around 5pm.

Shortly afterwards he emerged from the store with some posh swag hidden in Harvey Nichols bags, which were dutifully carried by his assistant.

You’d think that onlookers would be doing double takes at the Suedehead singer - but no one batted an eyelid.

A gentleman who was asking for change approached Morrissey without realising who it was.

Moz seemed to be completely unaware of his surroundings as he walked past without even registering him.

After he had purchased what he needed, the Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now vocalist made his way into Selfridges, likely heading to the car park, with the rather apt door slogan ‘don’t be moody shake your booty’ advising his journey.
