'Smiling like a child' - Man United fans react to Cristiano Ronaldo's interview with Wes Brown

Cristiano Ronaldo's second debut for Manchester United is getting bigger on the horizon and the club intensified excitement for supporters on Thursday.

Ronaldo has been back at Carrington since Tuesday, working to be in the best shape possible for the clash with Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The 36-year-old made a surprise return to Manchester at the end of the summer transfer window, as United hitched a deal to sign the Portugal sharpshooter from Juventus.

Naturally, there has been quite a fanfare accompanying Ronaldo 's second coming at the Theatre of Dreams, with United 's media team in overdrive this week.

However, no piece of content has got supporters quite as invigorated as the interview the club shared on Thursday, as Wes Brown interviewed his former team-mate on the Old Trafford pitch.

The duo reflected on their successes together in the famous red jersey and touched upon what aims Ronaldo has for his second spell at the club.

Following the release of the footage, United fans took to social media to share their jubilation.

Brown famously grabbed the assist for Ronaldo's towering header in the 2008 Champions League final, when the Reds beat Chelsea on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The Portugal poacher is still renowned for his aerial ability 13 years on, netting two headers against the Republic of Ireland during the international break, including a dramatic late winner.

United fans will want to see more headers planted beyond goalkeepers this season and hope that Ronaldo getting reacquainted with the Old Trafford turf can help him gallop out of the blocks on Saturday.
