SME loans fintech completes team of four business development bosses

Fintech lending platform LendingCrowd has completed the recruitment of three senior business development managers in four months to help back more SMEs.

The hires take the headcount at the business to 40, five years after it was set up.

Fraser McKay joins from trade finance firm Pay4 UK with more than 30 years' experience.

He will cover Glasgow and the Central Belt with Anthony Allen, who joined in April from Barclays Wealth Management and has more than a decade’s banking experience.

Keith Hunter, an experienced business developer and sales manager, joined in June to work with businesses across Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland. He previously worked as business development manager for Westburn Finance Ltd.

They join Edinburgh-based Chris Mitchell, who moved to LendingCrowd in December from his role as finance director at Early Days Nurseries, having previously spent more than 15 years at RBS and Clydesdale Bank.

Adrian Innes, head of origination at LendingCrowd, said: “As the banks retract into call centres and continue to close their branches, we understand that customers want a face-to-face relationship with their funder.

“That’s why I’m delighted LendingCrowd is bucking the trend by appointing four senior business development managers, each with significant experience and accredited banking careers.”

In May, LendingCrowd announced a funding partnership with the Scottish Investment Bank (SIB) – the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise – and Dutch entrepreneurial bank NIBC.

They will lend a combined £18.75 million across the LendingCrowd platform to small and medium-sized businesses.

LendingCrowd, the trading name of Edinburgh Alternative Finance Limited, previously agreed a £2.75 million lending commitment with SIB in October 2016.
