Smashed toilets and sink dumped on quiet Wirral country lane

A Wirral resident has spoken of her anger after smashed toilets, sinks and builder's waste were left dumped in front of a farmer's gate on a quiet country lane.

The rubbish, which was spotted by a walker on Sunday, was left strewn across Landican Lane close to Landican Village on the Wirral.

The walker, a local resident who was heading towards Storeton when she came across the mound of builder's rubbish on Sunday, shared a post about her find near a farmer's field in the vicinity of Landican Crematorian, on social media.

The post prompted angry comments from people disgusted at the waste left on the country lane, which is popular with walkers.

The local resident, who asked not to be named, told the ECHO : "I was just walking along on Sunday in the direction of Storeton, it's a lovely lane that's a proper walkers' walk, when I came across the rubbish.

"It happens a lot there and it's awful, that's the largest amount I've seen but others have told me that it was happening during the last lockdown too with mattresses being dumped.

The local resident says she has reported the waste to Wirral council, who have been "very responsive."

She said: "I received an email right away and again today.

"People shouldn't be just dumping items there, our council tax money shouldn't have to be spent on clearing up other people's waste like that."

The local resident says she doesn't believe the rubbish dumped is "normal household waste."

She said: "When you look at what's there, there's two toilets and a sink, that's not the likes of you and I having an extension, that's not normal household waste.

"I've had work done and what you do is get a skip, you don't just leave rubbish like that.

"What's even more annoying is that it is front of a farm gate, right across one of the fields.

"How is the farmer supposed to move cattle with that in the way?

The local resident added: "I'm quite angry, I just thought I can't believe this , it's just why do it?

"I know the tips have been in a terrible situation, I got stuck for an hour myself and in the end I said I can't stay, and that is now that's still in my shed.

"I just shoved in and once it's all over will take back to the tip and while I can understand people working might not have two hours to sit in a queue that's not the point.

"If you're going to have jobs done you budget for getting a skip or having the rubbish removed properly - or just don't get it done."

A spokesperson for Wirral Council said they were "investigating" reports of unauthorised dumping in the area.
