Smash Mouth takes a shot at ‘glorified mascot’ Drake, then gets roasted for it

This NBA Finals will boast its share of celebrity fans. Of course, there is Toronto Raptors fan and ultra-famous rapper Drake. And then there is Golden State Warriors fan and ultra-famous rapper Drake.

But I must admit that I did not expect Smash Mouth — yes, THAT Smash Mouth — to get in on the pre-NBA Finals trash talk with Drake.

Smash Mouth and its Twitter account has long looked to start sports feuds on the internet. It’s kind of their thing, considering they haven’t put out a new album since 2012. But when it comes to Bay Area sports, Smash Mouth remains active.

They took an unprovoked shot at Drake on Sunday.

Oh man, that “glorified mascot” hashtag. They really went there.

Despite Smash Mouth’s best efforts, NBA Twitter wasn’t exactly taking Smash Mouth’s side in this musical beef. Instead, fans roasted the band.

Yeah, Smash Mouth, you might want to sit this one out.
