Two car smash closes M8 near Glasgow Airport as police remain at the scene

A section of the M8 was temporarily closed after a crash near Glasgow Airport.

Police were called to the scene near Junction 30 on the westbound carriageway at around 5pm on Wednesday.

Paramedics and fire crews were also in attendance following the two car collision with long queues of traffic soon building in the area.

The road has since reopened however motorists are warned to expect continued delays.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had three appliances at the scene.

No injuries have been reported.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5pm on Wednesday, 7 July, officers were called to attend a two vehicle crash on the M8, at junction 30, near to the Erskine Bridge.

"There have been no reported injuries and the road has fully reopened. Officers remain in the area as enquiries continue."
