Smash-and-grab thieves hit vehicles in Chinatown, Bridgeport and South Loop

Police are warning the public about a string of thefts from vehicles in Chinatown, Bridgeport and the South Loop.

In each case, two males shattered the windows of parked cars and stole property, Chicago police said in a community alert.

  • Between 5 p.m. Jan. 25 and 8 a.m. Jan. 26 in the 500 Block of West 24th Street;
  • Between 5 p.m. Feb. 18 and 8:25 a.m. Feb. 19 in the 2400 Block of South Archer Avenue;
  • Between 1:20 a.m. and 2:05 a.m. Feb. 25 in the 500 Block of West 24th Place;
  • Between 8 p.m. March 4 and 1 p.m. March 5 in the 2100 Block of South Archer Avenue;
  • Between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. March 5 in the 2300 Block of South Princeton; and
  • Between 5 a.m. and 7:40 a.m. March 5 in the 2400 Block of South Wentworth Avenue.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
