A driver who crashed his ute on a remote highway has been rescued after his smartphone sensed the accident and auto-dialled authorities.
The man in his 20s suffered a head injury when his vehicle left the road in Queensland's Maranoa region about 5.15am (AEST) on Sunday.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident when the man's mobile phone called triple zero after his vehicle landed in a ditch.
A LifeFlight aeromedical helicopter crew, paramedics and a nurse treated the man, who was the sole occupant of the ute, at the scene.
He was later airlifted to Roma Hospital.
