It has been just under a year since I launched my executive virtual assistant business. I currently support non-executive directors but I have big ideas for my business and want to become a “one-stop shop” of sorts for NEDs [non-executive directors] and be the go-to person in my field.
Being a virtual business, it is almost a pre-requisite to work smarter as my clients and I don’t have the luxury of being sat outside each other’s offices. I do this by using great collaborative tools such as Skype, Dropbox and Evernote meaning I can keep in touch with clients, keep them updated with the work I am carrying out for them and we can work on documents together with real-time updates.
However, to work really smartly and to grow my business I have invested in a business mentor and mastermind group. I am always eager to learn and believe the way to do this is through those who are experts in their field. By investing now in learning from some great businesswomen to help support and guide me in building my dream business, I can think strategically and build solid foundations for my business, giving me the best possible chances of succeeding. By learning from those that have been before me, my business is adaptable and able to quickly and smartly navigate the inevitable obstacles that are placed in my way.
