As a small digital marketing agency, it is important to innovate and also offer an attractive working environment in order to retain staff.
In September 2013 we introduced a four-day week, which enables staff to fully recharge their batteries over a three-day weekend, every week. Having a longer weekend means that when staff come in on Mondays they switch immediately into working mode, because they had sufficient time away from work to properly disconnect and relax.
The compressed working hours and the fact that staff work flexible hours ensures that our offices are always manned for 12 hours a day, which has proven very beneficial from a client service point of view.
Staff can also work remotely, and we have a member of staff who worked from Florida for three months. This ensures that we retain talent and don’t have to invest in finding replacements.
Some of our productivity hacks include the introduction of set catch-up times, which are scheduled for three times per day. Staff have the opportunity to run things by their colleagues at those specified times without interrupting their work the rest of the day, except for real emergencies.
Serps Invaders promises a three-hour turnaround time for our client enquiries, which also enables us to stay focused and only check our emails at regular intervals. All the above have truly contributed to a more productive and happy work environment.
